Child friendly Malta

 

Apart from building sand castles with the children or chasing toddlers through the shallow clear waters, Malta does offer plenty of other fun things to entertain the kids of the family.  There are numerous family taxis with kids'booster seats, babyseats or car seats to suit any age of children for getting around in, so getting from place to place should not be a problem. 

 

One of the smallest countries in the world, Malta is actually an archipelago.  Loaded with history, evidence has been found to suggest that Malta has been inhabited since 5000 BC.  It is believed that Malta was connected to Sicily by a land bridge that is now 330 feet below sea level. There are no forests, mountains or rivers on any of its 7 islands. But kids will love the fact that it does have the stunning scenery required for several movies such as Gladiator and Troy, and ice cream dribbling down their chins will become a daily event.

 

Top of the cheesy choices is the Popeye Village near Mellieha for a quirky but fun day where the kids can go for a swim or watch a puppet show. A kid friendly museum to explore is the Maritime Museum in Birgu that is near the super yacht marina, which has the necessary drool factor for fathers who like big boy toys. The fairground ambience of Buggiba Promenade is a kid's paradise with trampolines, bumper cars and an Italian ice cream shop that is swamped every day. 

 

Adults can do a power walk beside the horses whilst their children saddle up for a pony ride at Bidniia, or veg out for a while at Splash 'n' Fun a water park complete with kid watching staff.  Head to Golden Bay at the end of the day for a bash at peddling a pedalo and finish up the evening with pizza at a beach bar. 

 

Malta International Airport sits between Luga and Gudia and is the only airport in Malta but as a good selaction of airport transfer with car seats.
